Considering...Watching...Learning...Doing

What am I doing these days, besides working...

1. I am considering how to correct my horrible posture...yoga maybe? I have been participating in a yoga class with my day care and enjoying it immensely. We have a two minute nap at the end and all the boys giggle. Perhaps the best part of my week.

2. I am fascinated by these unique preschools located mainly in Scandinavia. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jkiij9dJfcw. Outdoor classrooms are becoming more and more popular throughout the western world and, having seen first hand the drastically positive effect outdoor play has on the learning and behaviour of children, I am a proponent of this movement!
All that's missing is the fire. They tried to start that using an unsuspecting five year old child's glasses. But meany Amelia put a stop to that...I know. No fun at all.

Stumps become a drum set.

3. I have realized the great challenge of planning a wedding...you have to be a hostess without being able to run out and buy extra napkins day of. All you can do is smile for the photographer and freak out on the inside.

4. Supernanny. I am obsessed. Find full episodes on Youtube. Jo is my hero.

5. White is my summer colour.

6. Let me sing the praises of the charcuterie board. I fell in love with these pickled mussels.

Vacation food!

What are you all considering, watching, learning, or doing?

  1. I am learning that there are many words I don't know how to pronounce. I've been reading a book called Brainiac aloud to Andrew and I keep coming across words that I'm not sure about. (e.g. whenever I see the word "Appomottox" I freeze up!)

I am considering reading to the kids during lunch, since I always finish eating before them; then I gt antsy and decide to check my email. :)

  2. P.S. I haven't watched Super Nanny in years. I wonder if I can get Andrew to watch it with me...

  3. Thanks for commenting! Yeah, I hate having to read a book where there are a lot of words I can't pronounce.

Hyggelig

I first learned about "hygge" here . I was immediately hooked and began to do all kinds of research (i.e. Pinterest ) to learn more about this fascinating concept. Funnily enough, shortly after I learned about this awesome Danish word I found the perfect opportunity to put it into practice. My first ever adult snow day was on Monday. A monster blizzard slammed into New Brunswick, burying us under a mountain of snow. My workplace shut down. I was housesitting for my parents and all alone. I decided that I would spend my time using the elements I had learned about to create an absolutely "hyggelig" day. 1. Comforting and nourishing food: Sauteed kale, peanut butter cookies, sausage patties and pancakes, hot chocolate, tea 2. Time spent with loved ones I invited three of my nieces over (who conveniently live just across the road) to make heart shaped cookies, listen to music, read books, and drink hot chocolate. 3. Time spent in natur...

What I have been Up to:

1. Dishes, dishes, dishes. 2. Avoiding Christmas songs on the radio. 3. Giving people the gift of listening. It's a rarer gift than I thought. 4. Obsessing over this web-site: http://www.shopterrain.com/ 5. Trying to figure out how to prevent my eyebrows from bristling with dry skin. Ew! 6. Reading Tess of the D'Urbervilles for the second time and realizing that everyone should read books twice. 7. Procrastinating Christmas shopping like a boss. 8. Re-organizing the art area at work and adding na ture wherever I can! Nature basket 9. Refusing to be cold and wearing snow pants whenever I'm outside with kiddos. 10. Wearing the same makeup and French braiding my hair every day. 11. Planning a Settlers of Catan game night. Erik is in charge of snacks! 12. Buttoning my shirts to the top button. ~A
