Recent Obsessions

I usually give Erik a hard time about being an obsessive personality. But really, I'm not too far behind.

Here is what I've been obsessing over lately.

1. This BBC two part series called The Doctor Who Gave Up Drugs.
Dr. Chris lends a very interesting perspective to the modern day health care industry; and the transformations of the people he works with are so encouraging and inspiring.

2. Veganism! Though I probably never would be one (I don't think I would have the conviction to stick with it), I am fascinated with those who are. Sarah Lemkus  is a young mom living in New Zealand. I love their video Six Weird Things My Vegan Toddler Eats...plus the accent is just awesome.

3. Next obsession: zero waste living. Yup... there are people out there who live without making practically any garbage. Like, this lady:

And...this lady. Her blog is here.

4. This whole zero waste kick got me looking on etsy. Here are some cool products I discovered.

Unpaper towels

Reusable Beeswax Wraps(instead of cling wrap)

Reusable Linen Food Bags

Snack Bag made from Reusable Paper

5. And of course, searching through Etsy got me onto the subject of children's toys and clothing. I found these gems.

Montessori Baby Toys

Wooden Baby Gym

These adorable children's clothes.

6. Finally, this book. I am in love.

Cheers to my three readers. :)

Hyggelig

I first learned about "hygge" here . I was immediately hooked and began to do all kinds of research (i.e. Pinterest ) to learn more about this fascinating concept. Funnily enough, shortly after I learned about this awesome Danish word I found the perfect opportunity to put it into practice. My first ever adult snow day was on Monday. A monster blizzard slammed into New Brunswick, burying us under a mountain of snow. My workplace shut down. I was housesitting for my parents and all alone. I decided that I would spend my time using the elements I had learned about to create an absolutely "hyggelig" day. 1. Comforting and nourishing food: Sauteed kale, peanut butter cookies, sausage patties and pancakes, hot chocolate, tea 2. Time spent with loved ones I invited three of my nieces over (who conveniently live just across the road) to make heart shaped cookies, listen to music, read books, and drink hot chocolate. 3. Time spent in natur...

What I have been Up to:

1. Dishes, dishes, dishes. 2. Avoiding Christmas songs on the radio. 3. Giving people the gift of listening. It's a rarer gift than I thought. 4. Obsessing over this web-site: http://www.shopterrain.com/ 5. Trying to figure out how to prevent my eyebrows from bristling with dry skin. Ew! 6. Reading Tess of the D'Urbervilles for the second time and realizing that everyone should read books twice. 7. Procrastinating Christmas shopping like a boss. 8. Re-organizing the art area at work and adding na ture wherever I can! Nature basket 9. Refusing to be cold and wearing snow pants whenever I'm outside with kiddos. 10. Wearing the same makeup and French braiding my hair every day. 11. Planning a Settlers of Catan game night. Erik is in charge of snacks! 12. Buttoning my shirts to the top button. ~A
